Rainwater harvesting systems can be supplemented by municipal or well water in times of low rainfall.  RMS uses backflow preventers to avoid contamination of the fresh water supply by harvested rainwater.  For example, an irrigation system has the potential to allow contaminated water from the lawn to flow back into the pipes that deliver drinking water.

When installing a rainwater harvesting system it is necessary for you to check with your locality to determine what type of backflow valves/preventers are required.

BACKFLOW PREVENTION

Lead-Free Reduced Pressure Zone Assemblies
from 875.00

Series LF909 Lead Free* Reduced Pressure Zone Assemblies prevent the reverse flow of polluted water from entering into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage and or backpressure. It consists of a Lead Free* Cast Copper Silicon Alloy body construction, bronze ball valve shutoffs, and bronze test cocks. Series LF909 features a "air-in/water-out" design principle for protection during emergency combined backsiphonage and backpressure conditions. It is ideal for health hazard cross-connections or for containment at the service line entrance. Check with local water authorities for installation requirements. Maximum Working Pressure: 175psi (12.06 bar).

PRESSURE REDUCING VALVES

Lead Free Pressure Reducing Valve
from 288.30

Pressure Reducing Valves (PRV) are designed to reduce incoming water pressure to a sensible level to protect plumbing system components and reduce water consumption. The LFU5B features Lead Free* construction to comply with Lead Free* installation requirements. This series is suitable for water supply pressures up to 300psi (20.7 bar) and may be adjusted from 25 – 75psi (172 – 517 kPa). The standard setting is 50psi (345 kPa). All parts are quickly and easily serviceable without removing the valve from the line.

CHECK VALVE

Check valves allow fluid to flow through in only one direction and are used to prevent the backflow of rainwater into the potable water supply. Contact RMS for inclusion of check valves in your rainwater harvesting project.

SOLENOID VALVES

RMS is proud to offer ASCO Solenoid Valves. For more information regarding Solenoid Valves, please contact us.
