Virginia Chapter of Soil and Water Conservation Society, October 20, 2011|
Executive Vice President of the Cabell Brand Center, Dr. Tamin Younos, received the Honor Award from the Virginia Chapter of Soil and Water Conservation Society. Dr. Younos was recognized for his outstanding leadership and volunteer efforts to improve water quality nationally by forging public and private partnerships, developing educational materials, and initiating research programs to share with colleagues and science students.

On October 12, 2011, the Cabell Brand Center for Global Poverty and Resource Sustainability Studies hosted the workshop "The Quality of Life Dimensions of Stormwater Runoff" in collaboration with the City of Roanoke at the Virginia Western Community College Greenfield Education & Training Center. The workshop attended by more than 40 people discussed a wide range of views and options for improved management of stormwater runoff that could enhance quality of life in urban settings.
