Meeting the Challenge in Obtaining a Stormwater Permit: Rainwater Management Solutions Assists Charlottesville Company

One of the challenges in new building construction is obtaining a stormwater management permit. Developers must have a knowledgeable and experienced company on their team to provide the resources to meet the needed permit requirements.

Rainwater Management Solutions (RMS) is pleased to announce their collaboration with Brown Automotive of Charlottesville in designing a stormwater management and recycling system that will meet the requirements of the Albemarle County Department of Community Development. Brown Automotive called upon RMS to help them resolve permit issues of managing stormwater runoff in the construction of their new building on Route 29 North.

In the RMS stormwater and recycling plan, the Brown building will meet the permit requirements by collecting and recycling stormwater which improves the quality of water being sent though the Albemarle stormwater system. The system will be designed with a capacity to meet the ten year storm requirements.

Earlier this year, Rain Water System, Inc. of Virginia and Rattenbury Engineering, LLC, of Massachusetts merged to form Rainwater Management Solutions (RMS). John Rattenbury, a principal of RMS, was the first United States engineer to provide Siphonic Roof Drainage systems engineering design services. Among his notable achievements are the designs of Siphonic Roof Drainage Systems for the Boston Convention Center and for numerous IKEA stores.

Rainwater Management Solutions brings a common sense, cost effective and sustainable approach to addressing the escalating issue of water conservation and stormwater runoff through its rain water harvesting and storm water management services and solutions The RMS expertise encompasses industries directly impacted by water management issues, including commercial, residential, institutional and agricultural.
